Ellen Babcock
Health & Fitness Coach
I have been committed to helping people lead healthier, happier lives all my professional life. One particular focus of mine is assisting people in juggling how to take care of themselves – while also taking care of children and family. I enjoy helping people achieve their goals, whether it is weight management, fitness, running, or smoking cessation. Seeing them progress from tentative and unsure to smashing their goals brings me great joy!
Since high school, I have been a competitive athlete and love the adrenaline rush of competing against myself and others. People can do whatever they set their mind to doing. It can be hard to work against self-doubt and fear of failing – but I have found that you can program your mind, and your body will follow.
In addition to my Bachelor of Science in Health Education from the University of Lowell, I have earned additional certifications in personal training, group exercise, smoking cessation, Safe Sitters, Nurse’s Aid, First Aid, and CPR Instructor Trainer. Using my degree and certifications, I have worked to educate people from all walks of life in wellness and fitness in environments such as schools, fitness clubs, hospitals, and communities. I have also coached people in my home on both personal and professional levels.
While raising my daughter and twin sons, I took a step back from my professional interests but continued to pursue my athletic interests. I love running and have completed the Boston and New York marathons multiple times in addition to half marathons, 10ks, 5ks, and several 24-hour relays. I often did not think I could finish physically and mentally, but I pushed through to the end. I will always try to make myself help others make themselves meet their personal goals. My family members have developed a similar mindset and now teach skating and find new fitness pursuits of their own. We all play hockey – although my children began at age three while I started at age 43 – it’s never too late! We have been competing in Spartan races and hope to compete in Sparta, Greece, in 2023.
Our mindsets can get in the way of our successes – even recognizing them–but they can also be our most powerful tools. Telling yourself that you can do this will allow you to accomplish anything. I look forward to helping you set and achieve your goals. Let’s get started and see what happens!
